Reverse diesel engine

Hello Beekeepers,

An exiting season started at KSDS this Monday. This year we are very lucky to have enough players for two full Calvert teams.

The coaches begin 2024/2025 with a few headaches: all the players  worked hard during the try-outs, and it was a challenge to make the rosters!

In France, we like to use the metaphor of a diesel engine for sports. Back in the days, when I was a mid-schooler myself the diesel engine cars could only start after you waited a few seconds for some diesel to warm up. Eventually, French people would say from a team who come up together only after a long moment in the game that they played like a diesel engine: it took a while for it to start but it ends up working well!

We cannot say our Bees were a diesel engine at KSDS, they stung fast! In about 20 minute, the score was done: 4-0.
But after the half happened, the intensity went down for our Black and Gold players and KSDS raised the intensity. Hadn't it been for a beautiful penalty save, KSDS would have won the second half. All of a sudden it felt the Bees needed some time to warm up and start their engine back.

A lot of it has to do with the new positioning that the coaching team tries to put together: a 3-5-2 that is new to most players. And it was a first to a great numbers of the players.

Still a great effort from the A boys! First strong game of the season. Let's keep it up!
