Elise Cooper '21 Impresses at Olympic Trials
Dedicated, determined, focused...fast. These are all words that can be used to describe Elise Cooper '21. "Future Olympian" just became significantly closer this month as Elise made it to the semifinal round of the women's 200m race at the U.S. Track & Field Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, OR. The only high schooler to qualify for the 200m, Elise demonstrated impressive poise in the preliminary and semifinal rounds. She ran a personal best of 22.71 seconds in the semis where she ran in the lane next to one of her idols Sha'Carri Richardson.
It was a banner month for Elise. On June 13, she won the gold medal in the 200m race at the U.S. Track & Field Under-20 Championships.
Elise will begin her senior year at McDonogh School in the fall.
