Full-Time Child Care Teacher

Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for two full-time Child Care Teachers for its Kiddie Calvert program.  The positions will be available for the 2024-25 school year and the teacher will start in August 2024. Kiddie Calvert is an on-site child care center providing care to infants eight weeks old to toddlers age four. The school is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83. 
 
Kiddie Calvert Teachers are responsible for creating and implementing curriculum and activities that are age appropriate and they will manage the daily affairs of a classroom communicating frequently with parents and collaborating with team members. These are 10-month positions, and the hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M. and 8:30 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday.
 
Qualifications of the ideal candidates include the following:
  • Must be 19 years or older and have at least one full year working in a preschool setting.
  • Must be Maryland Senior Staff qualified (possessing the 90-hour certification), 45 of which must be in Infant/Toddler or hold an Associates or Bachelor’s degree (with transcripts) in Early Childcare Education (ECE). 
  • Candidates must have successfully completed 45 hours of Child Development and 9 hours of Communication.
  • First Aid and CPR certified preferred (will provide training for certification, if needed).
  • Demonstrated skills establishing effective relationships with staff, parents, and children.  
  • Must have a strong work ethic, be dependable, and have strong communication skills.
In addition, candidates must meet the State of Maryland, Office of Child Care, and other licensing regulatory agencies requirements including a pre-employment medical exam and a TB test with a negative result.  A State of Maryland and FBI background check will be performed.
