Summer Camp FAQs

List of 10 items.

  • What is a Day Camp?

Day camps offer a wide variety of fun activities in structured environment. Benefits for children include exposure to new experiences, fun social interaction, and more variety than a skill-based camp.

    Typical activities include:
    • Arts and crafts
    • A variety of different sports
    • Nature exploration and water play
    • Music, drama, or dance
    • Science experiments and other STEAM projects
    • Team-building activities and field games
  • What is the Pace of the Day?

The day will begin with a large group gathering activity before the children break into smaller groups based on age. They will rotate through a variety of activities, such as sports, P.E., relays, arts, science, and team-building games.

Lunch is provided between the hours of 11:30 A.M. and 1:00 P.M. Campers end their small-group activities and proceed to the larger group closing activity. Dismissal takes place after the closing activity by either carpool or aftercare.
  • What Activities are Available Each Day?

There is no typical day at camp, but below is an example of what a day may look like during Sea Adventure Week:

    Morning Gathering and Group Activity
(ex. treasure hunt, relay races, and an obstacle course)
    Themed Activity
(ex. capture the flag or "Steal the Pirate's Gold")
    Snack/Bathroom
    STEAM Activity
(ex. boat building or boat races)
    Lunch
    Athletics
(ex. flag football in the sprinklers)
    Snack/Bathroom
    Closing Group Activity
(ex. three-legged races or water balloon battles)
  • My Child Prefers a Specific Sport Over a Variety...

Many of our beloved teachers and coaches will be leading the activities, and they will incorporate all of the students' favorite activities. Specific sports, such as flag football, lacrosse, and basketball, will be featured as activity stations in addition to team-building activities, field games, and other physical activities.

Research consistently shows that modern-day athletes can benefit greatly from participating in a variety of sports, especially during their developmental years. Research from sports experts like Dr. Tom Farrey (Director of the Sports and Society Program at Aspen Institute) and studies from other organizations support the idea that multi-sport participation is beneficial for young athletes.

The sports specialization research from the National Academy of Sports Medicine also shows that athletes who diversify their sports experience early on tend to perform better as they mature.
