Today's game ended with the same score as Friday's game, but this time we were much closer to pulling off a positive result. Garrison Forest was another strong team, and they proved it throughout the game. It took until the 23rd minute, just before halftime, for them to score, but we weren't able to fully clear the ball and they ended up putting it in the net. It was an unfortunate way to end the half, as we had our chances to score as well, but we didn't let that discourage us.
In the second, we came out quickly and pulled even. Just four minute into the second, Stevens sent a gorgeous through ball for Tucker to run on to. As good as Garrison's keeper was, she wasn't able to deny Tucker her 5th goal of the season and 13th goal of her career. That tied Tucker with Lauren Steer for third place on Calvert's all time scoring list. We continued to push for the winner, and Stevens continued sending great passes ahead, but we could never get the final touch we needed. Then, with nine minutes left in the game, Garrison took advantage of a corner and got their second. It was a blow, but we kept fighting to the end. Tucker almost got her brace, but couldn't quite get the shot she needed. Tobin also had two chances. First down the sideline, but she wasn't able to get the angle to beat the keeper. The second chance came in the dwindling seconds when she took a short corner and just couldn't get enough on the shot. It was a valiant effort and we know we could've won on another day. For now, though, we move on to Bryn Mawr and hope to end our regular season on a high note.
