Middle School Long-Term Math Substitute Teacher

Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, has an immediate opening for a full-time Long-term Substitute Math Teacher in its Middle School. The position is needed for the remainder of the 2024-25 school year. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland. The campus is easily accessible from Charles Street and I-83. 

 

The Math Teacher will teach seventh and eighth grade students.  Students at Calvert are placed in developmentally appropriate groups. Students in Algebra I will master the solutions of more complex equations and the graphing of polynomial functions will be introduced. Students are exposed to Geometry and they use technology and real-world problem scenarios to explore mathematical concepts. In addition to teaching, faculty members at Calvert are expected to serve as academic advisors. They may also be required to cover duties and serve on school committees on occasion.

 

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s and a background teaching Math. Prior experience teaching middle school aged students is preferred. Candidates must be able to demonstrate an ability to inspire and support students and must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
