Calvert vs St James

It was another big win for Calvert, and a historic game to boot!
After giving up a quick goal to start off yesterday's game, we decided to get off to a quick start this game and take control early. So, in the third minute, we were down 1-0 once again! While we thoroughly dominated those three minutes, one quick counter can be all an opponent needs to seize the advantage. It was time to show our resilience once again!
This time, it didn't take long. About three minutes later, Stevens got the ball to Tucker at the top of the penalty box. She took one touch to her left boot before slotting it into the bottom corner and pulling us even. Then, in the 12th minute, we took a lead we would never relinquish when Daly took a shot from the right wing. It hit the post and the keeper before going in, tying her with Calvert legend Baker for the career scoring record. However, her contributions go beyond just scoring, as she got the ball to Green in the 19th minute, who then took it on a half volley to score our third goal of the half, giving us the 3-1 lead going into the break.
In the second, we wanted to make sure there was no comeback. Stevens once again showed off her passing ability, this time setting up Tobin with a beautiful cross across the penalty area. Tobin finished it neatly, pushing our lead to 4-1. Just four minutes later, we truly put the game out of reach when Tucker took a strong shot at goal, but the keeper was there to make the save. Fortunately, Filling stayed with the play and was there for the rebound and a put back. It was great positioning on her part. With the game firmly in hand now, the only thing left was to play out the clock and see if we were going to get our history making moment. It was looking like it would have to wait until another day when Green started streaking up the right wing. She beat her defender twice and crossed it from a narrow angle. The keeper stumbled as the ball came across and Daly pounced, using her right foot to lift it over a diving goalie and securing her place in the Calvert history books with 16 career goals! It was an amazing win for the team, and an incredible accomplishment for Daly. Now we get ready for Dumbarton on Friday, with our season approaching an end. Let's keep up the good work and finish strong, as next week has our final games before the playoffs begin!

Goals (total this season)
Tucker 6' (4)
Daly 12' 45' (5)
Green 19' (2)
