Semi Finals vs Jemicy

After a long break away from soccer, the girls were able to shake off some rust and some stiff defending to defeat Jemicy in the semi finals. The game started with Jemicy showing that they planned on playing defense. They had all eleven players behind the ball at times, making it hard for us to break through. We spent almost the entire first half pushing the ball into the final third, with Jemicy having the occasional counter, but it took until the 22nd minute to score the first goal. Three minutes before half, Sody got a nice pass from Wilson and took a shot on goal. It took a bounce over the keeper, and we were in the lead!
We knew that we needed to keep up the pressure in the second half and that Jemicy would be forced to play a bit more offense now that we had the lead. It turned out, there still wasn't much of a threat for our defense. About ten minutes into the second half, Tucker found herself in front of goal after cutting back her run to her left foot. Rather than trying to get it back to her strong side, she took a shot and scored, giving us the insurance goal we were looking for. Given how strong our defense was holding, with Bramble snuffing out attacks before they started and Rodgers holding the back line, we were confident we could hold on to win. Even so, we got one more goal in the 40th minute when Daly took a shot that hit a defender before going in. Since the shot was on target before the deflection, it was ruled a goal for her and bringing us to the final score of 3-0.
Now we have just one match remaining. As luck would have it, we have a rematch with St James, giving us the opportunity to avenge our finals loss from last year. We're looking to finish the season strong with one more win and looking to bring the trophy home. Also, parents, please be ready to stay after the final whistle for a short presentation for our 8th graders.

Goals (total for season)
Sody 22' (1)
Tucker 35' (7)
