Lower School Homeroom Teacher

Calvert School, an independent lower and middle school, is searching for a Lower School Homeroom Teacher for the 2024-25 school year.  Calvert School is dedicated to educating girls and boys through its time-tested method of teaching and its rigorous curriculum.  Particular emphasis is given to mastering essential skills, inspiring a lifelong love of learning, and instilling enthusiasm, responsibility and self-discipline. Calvert School is located in Tuscany-Canterbury, a residential neighborhood in Baltimore City, just north of Johns Hopkins University and south of Loyola University Maryland, accessible from Charles Street and I-83.

Homeroom teachers are responsible for the daily instruction of reading, math, composition, history, geography, and other content areas. The Calvert curriculum cultivates curiosity and challenges all of our students. We believe our unique approach helps create lifelong learners who strive to achieve mastery in all of their academic pursuits. In addition to managing the daily affairs of a homeroom, teachers communicate frequently with parents and collaborate with their grade level team members to develop and teach curriculum that is motivating and age appropriate. Faculty members are expected to contribute to the Calvert community as coaches, club advisors, and will serve on school committees on occasion.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with prior teaching experience. A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates must have excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Calvert School offers a competitive salary and benefits package including medical, prescription, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans. A State of Maryland and FBI background check will be performed.
